I was doing an inventory of molds today, and I find I have 2 which are not very old,( Lyman) but they don't appear to be offered anymore. One is #454647, a truncated gascheck 285 gr. A cast bullet out of this mold with my alloy mikes about 4535, Does anyone else have this number, and does Lyman still make it?
The other is A #429649, 44 caliber gascheck mold that casts a bullet that weighs 340 gr. (with GCinstalled) I used this bullet in my Freedom Arms .44 for awhile, and tried to use it in the.444 Marlin, but you have to use a compressed powder, and crimp ahead of the the crimp groove for it to work in the Marlin. Incidentaly, this big .44 has shot VERY well in everything I've tried it in. The dealers I buy my molds from no longer show this number, either??:drinks:

I don't know about the 454647, but the 429649 was dropped from production years ago. I don't know an exact date, but I would guess that it was back in the mid-90s. My experience with that bullet is similar to yours, it seems to be very accurate.

I had a 454647 for awhile. I never cast with it and could never find one listed. I sold it on ebay a few weeks back for a very good price. I believe it was for a 454 Casull at least that's what the box said.

The #454467 could have been a copy of the NEI style truncated nose bullet for the Casull. It was probably a limited production semi-custom mold as I don't show it listed going back to 1976.

They are both out of current production. Now you have "Vintage" molds, as advertised on flea-bay....

They are both very good mold designs..IMHO.
