New Caster and Patcher

I am new to this game and need a little help. I have some molds for my 357, 44, and 45. they are set to take lube. My question is Can I just paper patch them or do I have to lube them. Also when you paper patch do you need to use lube with the patch or not when you are using a smooth boolit.

You can size and and patch for handguns but there is not much advantage in it. You can get the same performance with lubed bullets. All my patched bullets for my rifles are grooved bullets and I do lube the patch after drying, and run through a push through die to remove the excess lube.
