I was over in Eastern WA the last few days and visited one of my favorite out of the way gun shops....She (owner) was selling Model 95 mauser 7x57 for $135.00 and sporterizer 30-40 Krags for $160.00...
all were in good serviceable condition.....some slight pitting in the bores of the Mauser....no crackes in the bolt of the Krages....

FIRST QUESTION....are these prices good, bad or average ??

SECOND QUESTION....why did someone remove the crest on the mausers?

THANKS

Seems like very good prices to me, the Mausers I see usually go for around that price, but the price on the Krags seems very low. They're worth more than that in parts for the receiver and bolt, even if the barrels are junk and the stocks cut down to nothing.

As for the crests, they were probably either ground off by the nation of origin, or it was in the surplus contract when the guns were sold off. Some countries wanted the crests ground off to protect national their pride as the crests were a national symbol like our flag.

The price on the sporter Krag is very good. Its worth more than that in parts alone. I don't know enough about Mauser's to comment.

I saw a handful of Mausers, Krags, Enfields and Springfields at a gun show this weekend, selling for 2-3 times as much. Well...... they were tagged. Didn't see anyone actually buy any of them.

If the M95 Mauser 7x57 is in good shape, I'd buy it in a minute.
Actually, if they aren't sold, wonder if I could get some pix, I might actually
buy it.

Yeah, give us a phone number, I'd be interested in one of those Krags.

While the "heat" is on with Black Rifles ...... I have been "quietly" buying bolt guns and anything else cheap that suits my fancy .....

I did however break my golden rule and pick up a S&W striped lower for another AR build though ........

Ain't the 2A GRAND!
