Back in the early fifties, a gentleman was at Friendship Indiana at the National Muzzle Loading Matches. They were not so "black powder only" in those days. He was allowing anyone who wanted to, to shoot his .600 Nitro Express. The price was $2.00 per shot (about equivalent to $20.00 per shot, today). My father bought me two shots. The owner of the double insisted that I shoot it in the sitting position (was afraid someone would drop the rifle). It was an experience that I appreciated for many years. Neither did I crave doing it again for a number of years .

The thought of shooting a revolver chambered for that cartridge makes me pale...

Reminds me of when I shot an 8 bore double. the owner loaded ONE cartridge so you couldn't accidentally fire two. Then he stood behind the shooter to catch the barrels as the rifle hit the vertical position in its rotation around the shooter's shoulder. One was enough, and that was when I was in my early twentes and would shoot anything!

No thank you. I like my wrists the way they are now. The rest of my bones, too!

From the trigger position and loading gate, I assume it's a single action.

I'd have to pass on it. Got to have a double action for speed work and double taps.:bigsmyl2: :Fire:

One thing I would say, you won't have to shoot something twice with that beast!

In the early 60's I had a 577 snyder revolver from the last century. It belonged to an officer it the English Military.Officers had to buy their own arms back then. This revolver was a 5 shot affair that was designed to throw the fuzzy wuzzies for a loss. The cylinder was so fat the gun needed a special holster. The grip was about 3" from the hip. I fired a few rounds thru it then found out how expensive they are to replace!!!!

Not my cup of tea. Shooting should be enjoyable, not painful

I'm with Topper on this subject--shootiung should be enjoyed, not endured.

Earlier this week, I ran 100 Keith-level loads out of my M-624, #429421's at about 1075-1100 FPS. Not real bad, but about as much sustained recoil as I care to put up with on a given day. I mixed in 9mm and 45 ACP with this to break up the string, and had a fine time. One of the nice things about my Redhawk is how nicely its heft soaks up the recoil of full-value 44 Mag loads. My usual 44 Mag chow--#429421's or #429244's at around 1200 FPS, just like Elmer recommended--are very nice in that big ol' wheeler.
