How far through the ground do you have to shoot with that .45/70 to get the owl?

Happy Shootin'! -Tom

And why would you want to shoot an owl that you had borrowed? And how did the owl get under the ground? Too many unanswered questions here. Maybe they do things differently in Canada. This is giving me a headache.

Hi canuck4570,

That is a neat owl. It looks like he's in a tile of some sort. As to the Winchester single shots, I like them too. They work so smooth and have a nice sound when you operate them. I've worked on several over the years but for some reason never bought one when they were reasonably priced. Now they're priced way out of my range. I like the low wall too, especially the new manufactured ones made from good steel. One of those in 30-30 or 30-40 would be a great little walkaround rifle. The new ones will take pressure that the original ones wouldn't.

Cheers,

Phil

I had one just like that! When I had a detached retina repaired I decided to get rid of everything I had that generated much recoil. So, sadly, I sold it. Now I shoot light cast bullets in the 8mm and smaller and jacketed in 22's. I just don't want to take a chance on any more retina problems. I have enough serious eye problems as it is. But, yes that was one of my favorite rifles. I loved shooting it.

I'll have to look and see if I have any photos of my Ruger, it had the most beautiful wood I've ever seen on a No.1.

canuck4570, same here. I shoot a 30-06, 303, and 30-40 along with an old Savage 22 more than anything these days. I suppose one of these days I'll sell most of whats left. Those calibers give me a lot of satisfaction. I used to like the big calibers, 30 magnums, 358 Win, 35 Whelen, 375 H&H, 45-70, 500x3", but no more. That retina surgery scared me to death. I don't want to do that again! Red Dot, 4759, 4227, and 4198 with cast boolits do all I want to do anymore. I think I'm starting to spoil. (:>)

Here's to relaxing!
