I have come across a rifle barrel. The shank is .992" with a 12 TPI thread. Does anyone know what action this barrel was made for?

Thank you.

.............Nothing in my list shows an 'exact' .992" thread OD, but several with 12 TPI are within a couple thousandths. Is it chambered? What caliber is it? I take it there are no markings on it anywhere? Are there any cuts or other features in the breech face. Is it a smooth taper, or ?

How long is the shank?

I have had a couple small ring Mausers that were that big. They are supposed to be .980" or so.

.012" isn't very much when you are talking about 100 year old tooling.

Jeffery T; could be just about anything, but possibly for anyone of the SR mausers, you need thread shank length, thread form- V type, sq etc, breech type-coned, recessed, squared, cut for extractor and on and on. Nominal thread dimensions are reference and a reason some people don't like pre-fit barrels.
All the thread sizes shown here were taken from the old barrel and used to thread a new barrel for installationj on the action- od-shank length-tpi

If it has a shank close to .775 long could be one of the turks 1903IIRC, what caliber is it?

My small ring Mauser has a .985 shank. The only thing I could find in Frank De Hass' "Bolt Action Rifles"
is a Model 89 Belgian Mauser 12 V TPI .995" diaX.760" long
