Well I got to shoot today with the “One Ragged Hole” sights. I just ordered a set and I might not give this one back to my buddy until mine come. Here are two, 3 shot groups with proven loads. Both were shot at 25 yards, sitting, shooting off of a sand bag. The one on the right is the Lyman Devestator and the one on the left is the LEE C429-240-SWC.

I think I will order a set for my SBH after seeing your results. Nice shooting BTW.

Dangit! You just cost me some more money, I'm going to have to try these on one of my Blackhawks now.

Will these fit the 50th anniversary models? How about the Old Army??

I think they fit any ruger with adjustable sights. some of the older models might require a slight modification. When I put them on my security six I had to hammer the little lip on the bottom of them flat. took all of about 2 minutes.

What does a 6 shot group look like?

I will tell you why they are 3 shot groups. I am working very hard right now to battle an anticipation problem. I know I am doing it and if I concentrate I can over come it but for some reason it is a battle right now. So to eliminate that I was loading every other cylinder so I could have a nice calm dry fire in between each shot. Now I have been shooting full power handguns all my life such as 45acp, 357mag ect. but this gun with full power loads is more than I have been accustomed to.

Wait till you try that sight in low light. Then the benefits really show up. I've been using one of those on a 41 mag with the 4 5/8 inch barrel for night fightin coyotes during calving season, for several years now.
The rifle sight works very well also.

www.oneraggedhole.com is the place that'll do the owner the most good.

Brownells carried the handgun sights a couple years back , not sure if they still do or not.

I have to agree these are great sights. My Ruger SBH looks a little weird but for hunting I love it!

I used some of my clear bow making epoxy and put one of those optical fiber on the top of the front sight.

In low light I have the circle with a bright green circle in the middle! It seems to work best once the sun has gone down, but there is still light in the sky.

It seems like you found out several things! The Ruger hunter is a shooter and the sights are great.
I don't think I could use them though, the front sight would still be a blur to my old eyes and I hate to wear glasses when I hunt. :drinks:

Good morning...
Like ARTICBREEZE said " Proven load "
3 shot groups... If I have to fire more than 3 shots with a PROVEN load then there is something real wrong...
WHEN I CHANGED MY FRONT SIGHT ON MY 44-40 Winny SRC using my PROVEN LOAD of 8 grains Unique & a 220 gr boolit I fired ONE shot groups to get it on target. I then fired a 3 shot group to verify and there it is.

Nice shootin Articbreeze. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what load are you using for the Lyman Hollowpoint?

Thanks Articbreeze! I have been using 21 grs of 296 and accuracy was pretty good. I will try the 22.3 and see how that does for me. Thanks again.

For the price ..... you'd think more people would try them on that basis alone .......

Thanks for posting your groups ....... you rightfully turned some heads and won some converts.

My ORH is on a 9.5" SRH and I also teamed it up with a Ruger gold bead front sight ..... painted black with a black laundry pen.

A VERY good combo!

Thanks Trickyasafox! ....... I have a Security Six that ought to wear a ORH ...... and now that I know that it will fit with just a bit of tweeking ........ it will get the "peep treatment" also.

not a problem 3-44's :)

if they fit my security six- they ought to fit anyone's. Mine is a 150 prefix- one of the originals.

So much for all the replies to the other thread that said they were no good for target sights...[smilie=1::mrgreen:
