I went out today with some of my donated test bullets, was a bit windy but still went. This is the first time shooting this rifle and shooting a 3030. They never seemed to call me , my father inlaw gave this rifle to my 5 year old grand son so I wanted to work up a light cast load for him to learn it in a year or so. Now I am going to have to get myself one, these levers are a blast. I used a Lee 170 and Lyman 311041 and the Lee edged the Lyman today on the first outing. I am using 10 and 10.5 gr Unique to start, here are the targets and the low holes where shot at the top targets before I dialed it in and me getting used to the rifle. Boon:drinks:

Boon, looks good! Keep the grandson interested, we always need new blood in our sport! I always stressed and stressed and stressed safety with my own, probably wore their ears out, but I trust them at my side or behind me with a loaded gun. I went to hunters safety with them and tried to instill the importance of being an ethical hunter in them, I believe it worked. Grandpa will be remembered! Good shootin to ya.

Safety is a must, I am a Pa State HTE ( Hunter Trapper Education) instructor and really enjoy working with the kids. We have a large percentage of adults that take the course also. We have alot of great people in our sport and we have to keep it going. Steve:castmine:

Agree 100% on the safety. Even though I stressed it with my oldest, he's way too careless for me. Of course at 19 he knows EVERYTHING and there's no talking to him now. I should have started him younger.

Put him in the Marine Corp, his attitude will change for the better! Put both my sons in when they reached 19. I went at 19 in 1965, was not a gooid time but would do it all over the same.

Semper Fi, the Crotch will be good for them. Builds men. IMHO, I also joined in "65", would do it all over today....even though the left wingers don't believe we should defend our country and our beliefs.

Glad to see youngsters getting started shooting and hunting, it is part of our heritage here in America

Me too, '79-'83. He's too wrapped up in "me" to do it.
