Anybody know where to get 6 cavity round ball moulds? I shoot a lot of cap and ball revolvers and two at a time takes a while to get enough casted. I realy only need two molds, .380 and .454. I like the lee two cavity for it's tangent sprue cutoff, but like I said, it's only a two cavity.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Will

Watch Ebone for a Lyman 4 hole RB mold .
RB molds NORMALY go quite reasonably .

I saw one recently that went quite low .

He has made 2 gang ball moulds for me and they are perfect in my opinion, but he does NOT make conical moulds for modern guns.
About a month on delivery.Great prices too.

I had a thought, I know dangerous, what about a 6 cavity group buy? I wonder if lee could make 6 cavity round ball moulds with the tangent sprue cut off? Would anybody else be interested?

NEI makes up to six cavity RB molds in many diameters; I have one .454 bought used from fbay. Kinda pricey though and not everyone likes their sprue design; it's not even close to tangential cut and leaves quite big flat surface. It's easy to say that just place that flat facing forward, but at least I found it rather tricky to do with .44 Colt clone. Not possible to just put ball in in that small frame, it kind of a rolls in over the chamber edge... Maybe Joel at NEI could locate the cavities (by request) deeper down the block resulting smaller sprue?

I'll check them out, I got a 38 hollow base from them, good people to deal with.

Most of my casting is pure lead for my muzzleloaders. I cast for 32,45,50 caliber and cast .440, .445, and .451 for my 45 cal. I also cast a hollow base 365 gr. maxi for my 50 cal for deer hunting. It works as I have shot 6 deer with my Lyman Deer Stalker with this bullet and 80 gr. of Goex 2f. Anyway I digress, I would suggest you check with Lyman on their website. If they don't have a 6 cav mold I doubt you will get one unless custom done. I have found that I like single cav for my rifles, as you will ususally have slight variations in the balls from multi molds. But for a handgun, I doubt that it would matter.
