Is anyone farmiliar with the “One Ragged Hole” sights. It is a rear aperature type, I am thinking of trying one on my NMSBH Hunter 44mag instead of a scope. I had planned on a red dot but after a range session at 50 yards with the standard sights that came on the gun I am defiantly more confident at that range. I would love hear if anyone has experience with them.

The gun is going to be use mostly for pig hunting in dense areas where most shots are under 25 yards, But I want to be confident for that occasional 40-50 yard shot.

I have the larger aperture my buddy gave me - my jury is still out, but I have not shot it much either.

I have them on 3 different Rugers right now, I like them. I'm thinking about getting a couple more one for an Old Model SBH and my new 44 magnum flatop.

I have them on my 2-3/4 in security six and my 5-1/2 in mk II. I really like them. If you like the 'pumpkin on the post' sight picture- you'll enjoy them. they are well made and easy to install, and you get two in the kit.

my only gripe is that the small aperture makes me wish I had a narrower front sight on my mk II- but I wanted that before anyway. the new back just made me realize how much I wanted it :)

Cool I never knew these existed. Will this fit on an Old Army with adjustable sights?

They are not bench rest target sights, but are indeed, very useful, fast, low light suitable, easy to install, easy to remove if you want to go back to original, adjustable, and fit several types of guns. H&R shot guns w/ rifled sights, various revolvers, and probably more that I don't know about. Both the large and small come in one purchase package so you can see which works better for your application. The left over one went on my H&R. Got my deer with one a couple years ago.

I have one on a KS458N Ruger. It works for hunting applications, but is sure not designed for target type shooting!

An older friend of mine has been doing this for 40 years...He even credits himself with the invention.

All he does is epoxy/solder a small steel washer into the excisting rear sight... Ruger already has a small radia cut in the rear sight to accept the washer...Don't think there was any windage adjustment(didn't look at it to close so it may have been sodlered to the blade to allow for adjustment?) but when I shot his SBH and the thing shot like a Sharps with a tang sight.

Seemed to work just fine for target shooting once you just forgot about it and put the front sight where you wanted to hit. Just like any peep.:Fire:

From the title, I expected this to be Starmetals autobiography.

Well everyone thanks for the replies. I got lucky; a buddy at the gun club has them. He let me borrow the smaller of the two apertures. I just put it on, man was that easy. Just looking through it I think I am going to order a set. I am going to the range tomorrow (sneaking out of work for an hour or 2 or 3) so I will let you know how it goes.

I think they look great too....

Nope, tried to get him to, but it would be a lot more difficult. I know why he does not want to.
