Lars45 has 350 alox for sale. Get some and mix with mineral spirits and make your own...same stuff.

Jeff. you don't seem to be getting much help here.

Our remote correspondent, Ricochet, has come up with something he says is about the best tumble lube there is: Johnson's Paste Wax. Just melt it over a low heat, dip your boolits, and wah-la, instant perfectly lubed boolits.

I bought some wax, but haven't tried it yet, so no personal testimonial from me. But, Ricochet is one of our "smart guys," and doesn't make such claims lightly.

I've been using Johnson's Paste Wax for over a year and several thousand bullets. It works very well at PB velocities and is not messy. It's very much like the coating on lead .22s. I do not use it over 1400 fps.

Much the same can be said of Rooster Jacket, but it is quite a bit more expensive.

Pulling lube (at least the blue stuff I used to use, we called it "whale spew") is water soluble. I don't know if that would be a plus or a minus. I never used the yellow "cable jizzum" as the blue stuff was much cheaper back then. Is it water based also? How long does it take to dry?

Somewhere I have read that the white lube is the same as Lee sizing lube. Has anyone else read this? You can buy a quart for $10 or so....

If it is water soluble, it should be an OK BP lube. Try it there, too. ... felix

I have not used it for bullet lube, but I use GB(Gardner Bender)Wire Aid for case lube. I was told it's the same as Lee case lube??????? I bought it at Lowes and it's about $5 per qt and Lee is about that for I think 4 ozs. You guys use Johnsons floor wax have to use a buffer on it?

Believe there was a discussion about using motorcycle chain lube but haven't tried it yet. I'm not much help either. Just bought a 12 bottle supply of liquid alox and also have been using that & my WFFL with great success.

The idea of chainlube is to get oil into the pivots and rollers to prevent chain wear and also wear on the sprocket gears. Problem for years had been oil getting flung off and getting all over the bike and probably more important, especially in trailbikes, collecting dirt and grit on the chain. So they developed a chain lube that dries sorta and doesn't fling off and collect alot of debri. The lube is still developed for needs of a chain and guess it just have a drying agent in it, don't know about it's application to our needs...haven't ever tried it...except on bike chains.

Starmetal--when you tried the chain oil on chains did you still get one hole groups when you shot them? Bet that started a chain reaction when you launched it.

Joe, I think he's smelling too much sheep dip. Or maybe lanolin is softening his brain.... First thing you know, he's not going to be able to tell the difference between cats and sheep, and that can be dangerous!

I have just tried some Rooster Jacket that I've had for a while in my .45acp target loads. I ran about 150 rds thru the gun today and am very pleased with it as there was no leading and the big plus for me was the almost total lack of smoke. During the winter I have been lately shooting at an indoor range and the smoke from my regular cast loads was kind of a pain in the neck even though I only lube 1 groove on my swc's. During the timed and rapid fire stages it was really bad, but the Rooster was like shooting "J" ammo. I've got the pot warming up now to cast some .45's so I can make some more with the Rooster lube . I will still stick with the regular lube for most of my shooting outdoors as I still have to size my swc's and the rooster is an extra step for me with the Star. It is definitely worth it though for the indoor shooting. Nick

Howdy Guys, I am new here. Have tried a lot of lube lubes and homemade stuff over the years. The motorcycle chain lube your are refering to is labeled "Chain Wax" and made by Maxima Oil. Kinda expensive ($10/16oz) and the spray can wastes alot. Have never used electrical wire lube, but the yellow stuff (Ideal 77) has a high content of silicone mixed will a soap/water base, should work- but let it dry completely before assembling your loads or you will get corrosion . I will have to try the Johnson wax! :lovebooli
