I usually do things backwards the cart befor the horse thing...
I picked up a 3die set for the 7-30 waters at a Show a while back
now getting the itch to buy a super 14 bbl or a carbine barrel for my
contender. Any recomendatoins on the 7-30 waters? Good, Bad or ugly...?

I have the 14". Love it. Loaded 'soft' with lead it's a fun plinker. Loaded 'stiff' with j-words it's a real Ram cannon, even at RIFLE ranges, but recoil is IMO about equal to a stiff .45LC in a SAA. Get one! I've been working more with other barrels/calibers, but I'd never sell that one. It seems to be very 'load-forgiving' in the accuracy department.

I think the 7-30 is probably one of the best calibers in the Contender line-up, bar none. I did have a nice 23" stainless one, and like Brett says it is deadly and very user-friendly. The only reason I don't currently have one is because I have a 7mm-08 rimmed barrel for my Encore, but I am still thinking of picking up another carbine barrel in 7-30 for my T/C.

Jeff, isn't that how it's supposed to be done?

I absolutely agree that the 7-30 is superb in the Contender. For some reading on it, here's my old article (load data has some powders no longer made, though).

I have a 11" MGM Contender barrel. Love the round and had I not stumbled on to a 24" barreled Winchester 94 in 7-30 I would get a carbine barrel to go with it.

I had my 14 inch barrel Magna-Ported and shoot 120 grain GC bullets nearly all time. I like a load of 10 grains Universal Clays. Accurate and light load. Will try Green Dot also. Don't hunt just shoot paper at 50 yds. dd
