OK, I'm sure someone here has one of the two Heavy 8mm bullet Molds (215gr and 225gr) made by LEE for MidSouth Shooters Supply.

Can you give me a rundown of the difference between the two and which would be better for a Turk 1903 with a 29" barrel. I've got LEE's 175gr RN mold and a Herters' 179gr Spitzer already for this caliber. I'm just wondering if it might be better to go back to the heavier bullet weight for deer/target shooting.

I just saw johnch's post further down. Does anyone else have these molds (Thanks Buckshot for the good reply in the other thread)

I have the Karabiner, the lighter one, Bruce, but don't think it has been tried in the Turk Mausers I own. Works great in the M48A Yugo, better than any lighter boolit tried thus far. No Herter's spitzer around here, I'm envious. Never having seen the 225 grain version, can't comment on the differences, but my Karabiner casts heavier than 225 with the odd mixture alloy they were cast of.

I'm using the Karabiner which is suppose to cast out at 215grs. With the alloy I use, mine come in at around 230. I size them to .325", lube with felix & load with a charge of 2400 powder. It's a nice shooting boolit in my Yugo, being easy on the shoulder and accurate to boot.

I have the 8mm Kar and the 8mm Max. Here is what mine cast up with straight wheel weights.
Kar wt=235gr and is .323dia
Max wt=251gr and is .325dia
Haven't shot any yet.

I have both. They weigh 220ish and 250ish. Heavier has a little smaller diameter meplat. Last time I was down the see Felix, we went to 'da riva' and shot a wad a bunch of one or the other of them. Actually, they both shoot good in a 9.? whatever bbl the 98s have in them. I su[ppose I could look back in my log and find the entry if you need it. Those moulds are cheap enough you could one of each and not be out that much. sundog

8MM KArabiner shoots very well in my like new Yugo 48 with 13.0 Red Dot. My Turk isn't so happy with it, but thats probably due to it's barrel being, ( I'll be kind), less than pristine.
