I am thinking about casting for my .223. It is a Stevens model 200 with a 1in9 twist. Can anyone tell me what weight boolits might be expected to shoot well in this rifle? Thanks

With the 1-9 twist it will handle any bullet available, before getting started,
1.Do "the Search" thing on .223, you will have enough to read to give you an idea on the in's & outs of shooting cast in a .223
2. what might not be covered is that you need to give the BBL very very good cleaning before trying lead.

1/9 is suppose to be the well rounded twist if you were 1/7 like mine I would say 62 grain or more
if it were 1/11 I may say 55 Grain but in general I would say you have to try and find out what it likes to eat if you google it there a few artical about bullet wieght and twist rate the grains for .223 can go from 40 grain up to around 90 most around 50 ish range
Excellent articles here on shooting cast bullets in the 223

Suggest a heavier Lovern design like 225462 for use in 9" twist .223s. Use of medium burning powder like 4895 with a dacron filler also works well. Keep velocities under 1900 fps.
