Haven't casted yet but starting soon. I think i've decided on the saeco #69 4 cavity for a H&G 68 look-a-like, unless you can convince me that the ballisti-cast 668 is worth the extra money?

My question is about sizing. Am i correct in saying the saeco should drop .453? I know it will vary a bit depending the type of alloy but... And if so, should I buy a .452 sizing die? I've seen in the Lyman castboolit handbook that they recomend a .451 sizer. Most everyone I know uses .452.

I think I will be getting a star-sizer due to shooting alot in IDPA. I'm sure i'll have many more questions...

There's a GB mold from MiHec going on right now that is a 6-hole H&G 68 if you're interested.

I have several H&Gs that are really great molds, a joy to cast with. I am told that
the BallistiCast molds are the same, they bought out H&G, I imagine that you know.

The three Saeco .45 rifle molds that I have cast undersized, but are very well made.

I have a two cavity Saeco #69 mould and it casts a prefect bullet that I size to .452" but I think it could be sized to .453" if I wanted to. It seems to be almost a perfect match to the H&G 68,69 except the H&G has a little larger radius on the nose than the Saeco. I like the flat base of the Saeco 69 also. I think the Ballsticast moulds all have bevel bases.

Not sure but there website say they can make bb or pb for the 668.

Yeah, the Ballisticast slugs have any base you want - and they should have, for the buck.

For the proper size boolit you need to slug your barrel, let it tell you what size it needs. If it sluggs @ .451 then size to .452 or .453.

I have a Saeco #69 made in the mid 80's, it casts at .4535-.454 in my alloy, this allows me to size for some oversize 45C's and a 625-3 45ACP.

That makes sense. Haven't slugged yet but I've shot lots of other lead at .452 in my weapons.

I have a couple of four cavity #68 Saeco moulds (they are bevel base otherwise the same as the #69 which is flat base) and they are good moulds.

However, I would definitely get aboard the Mihec Six Cavity mould for a copy of the #68 H&G mould (in fact, I DID!:drinks:).
