I'm looking to find someone who may have found any luck loading for either the 6.5 Carcano or Swede. I've sent a check out to Buckshot yesterday to have a .269" sizing die made for GC installing. I won't have much problem working up faster loads when it comes. Until then I'm just going to send them down range naked. But how much of what? I'd like to send them at around 1100 to 1200 fps. I'll be shooting them threw an M91 cav carbine with a .255/.268 gain twist bore. johnly was kind enough to loan me a Lyman 266469. It throws a .269" 145.5 grn water quenched ww boolit. I'm hoping to find a good starting pointing. The powder's I've got to work with as possibilities are A5744, Varget, Unique, Bullseye, IMR 4895 & 4198, and Universal Clays. Any primer saving suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I tried shooting my CBE .269 149gr GC design boolit without the gas checks out of my 91/38 Carcano Beretta and had no luck at all. The best group was about 6 inchs at 50 yards using 8gr of Unique. The faster i tried to push it, the bigger the groups were ( well if you could call them groups). With the gas checks, that boolit will shoot 1 - 2 inch groups all day, using 11gr Unique. That should be pushing along at about 1500fps.

The CBE web site says 268-149 GC. Is that what you have? What alloy are you using to get it to drop at .269"?

Yes, that is the the mould from CBE, using 20 - 1 WW and 50/50 solder the mould drops spot on at .268 (sorry the above .269 was a typo) which i dont mind at all, as my barrel slugged at .268. Jim from CBE ordered a custom .268 lube sizer for me from Lee, but its been 14 weeks now, so Jim, being the helpful guy that he is, loaned me an old .268 sizer he had from a lyman sizer i think. I've been putting the GC's on by pushing the boolits through that with a 6mm rod and mallet.

And thanks again for the welcome sav300, i found this site about 3 months ago, and just haven't been able to stay away. Mind you, i only started casting about 3 months ago as well, with the intention of just casting for the Carcano. I now have a Lee C309 - 150F mould for my 30/30 and have ordered a 75 gr mould off CBE for my .243.......I think i'm hooked!!!!
