I have been mining lead from some local ranges which shoot nothing but cast lead bullets, Going by the type shooting the range lead would consist of the following
98% commercial cast
1% WW
1/2% 20-1
1/2% pure lead
What do most commercial casters use for lead composition?
I normaly shoot WW in non magnum pistol calibers and was debateing shooting this lead as mined or mixed 50/50 with WW

It is my understanding that it is 2% tin and 6% antimony.

I would cast some as is and see how it works.

Casting 1 part soft lead to 2 parts WW is a good mix for even magnums if water hardened. Some say 357 and 9mm is fine with straight WW if water hardened but i find mould fill out to be a pain .

mix all of what you got in a pot and cut it in half with pure.
or with 22's.
water drop for rifles, air cool for revolvers.
90 plus percent of commercial casters use the 2%tin 6% antimony mix.
i have in the past when they were remotely cost effective bought commercial added 2% more tin and used them as rifles boolits, made really good brittle varmint boolits.

We have used 92-2-6 alloy for 17 years exclusively and it is typically the alloy of choice.

92-2-6 is what I was needing to know.

Thanks
