A couple months ago, I got soft lead from the local scrap dealer for 50 cents a pound. Went back the other day and asked if they had any, he said just got some in, at a $1.00 a pound. Was told any type lead is getting scarce and he sells it as fast as he gets it in, so I bought 156 pounds for that price. May be high now, but might be cheap in the long run, and I now have about 300 pounds of soft lead for my rocklock front stuffers for the foreseeable future. I also have about 600 pounds of wheel weights I bought over the years when cheap.

70-100 lb lead ingots, soft stuff, is holding at 65 cnts a pound for me. With RX lead, relatively hard, is 60cents a pound. I do think it may be time to get a good 500lbs worth.

Thats what I'm hearing out of a couple local foundry's , so up comes the price about 8% recently. Wonder why it's hard to get as I'm in MO. which is considered the lead belt of the U.S. Is it cause they were selling at the higher price and want to drive it back up ?

It looks like crude oil prices drove shipping costs up, thus less metals were going to china, the price of crude dropped and exports are going back up again.
