Anyone have any good loads for this caliber using 115 gr cast? I will be shooting it in a Ruger single action.

do a search for 32 there are some good posts. Also go to castpics.net and look under members articles. There is a good article on the 32.

You don't say for which gun so take my loads as "max" and work up to them if you have a equal type firearm. Here's what my original run Ruger Single Six w/6.5" barrel likes;

All loads are in Starline cases with WSP primers.

TL314-90-SWC over 3 gr Bullseye for 1005 fps.
311316 (118 gr GC 32-20 bullet) over 4 gr Unique for 975 fps.
311316 over 10.5 gr H110 for 1175 fps.
313631 (105 gr GC'd SWC designed for the H&R) over 10.5 gr H110 for 1220 fps.
313631 over 5.5 gr Unique for 1285 fps.

Federal 95 gr LSWC runs 1024 fps.
Federal 85 gr JHP runs 1038 fps.

I have some "new" Blue Dot loads pending the results of my awaiting pressure test. My old Blue Dot loads were plumb amazing in this little cartridge but i won't post them until I complete the pressure tests comparing old and new Blue Dot.

Hi Larry,

If you don't mind sharing, I would be very interested in loads for some of the heavier .32 caliber lead bullets. You mention using a single six, my daughter has a Sp101 with a 4 inch barrel. I have achieved some very decent velocities using a Hornady 85 grain jacketed bullet and the accuarcy of this cartridge/revolver is amazing. I have kept the lead bullets tp 95 grain and around 900 to 1000 fps, but think there is more potential after trying some 115 grain lead loads that shot so well I am hesitant to think it wasn't a fluke. All load were using Starline brass and WW spp and a variety of powders. Against all advice she carries reloads as there is just no 32 H&R ammo available at this time. That and we live in Georgia where I have never known the ammo to be an issue, or even questioned, in a self defense shooting. Thanks take care, CJ. PS, ya need to empty your PM box, it says it is ful..

The 311316 is the GC'd version of the 115 gr 32-20 bullet. My only other "heavy load" is with Blue Dot and since it is with old Blue Dot I don't want to publish it until I complete my pressure tests are complete. I've also a 10" Contender int .32 H&R I may put a strain gauge on to measure pressure. I developed the above loads in the Ruger before I got the M43 Oehler and have shot quite a few of them with no signs of pressure.

Most of my shooting in the Ruger is with the 90 gr cast at 1000 fps to. Very accurate and one time i went through 550+ rounds in 2 days without cleaning the revolver. Never had a lick of problems or any leading what so ever. The 105 gr 313631 at 1220 fps is my most used "magnum" load. Extremely accurate and really thumps small critters like jack rabbits and rock chucks. Managed one coyote with it on a call and it dispatched it about as quick as any factory 357 load out of a 4" barrel ever did.

I also carry reloads for personal protection without concern. People forget the issue in such use is whether deadly force was justified. To many get wrapped up in essoterric crap regarding the use of handloads. I've not seen a single case of reloads being an issue either and I was a LEO for 18 years. Kudo's to your daughter with her SP101.

BTW; I cleaned out the PM box.

for a s&w 16-4 6 inch barrel the 311008 works fine 1160 f/s but the 311316 sometimes tumble
all size 313
i bought a rcbs98 swc same than the 311008.
i reload with 0.28 grams of vectan A0
nice gun no recoil ,very scare here
hope than help

Larry..good post. I noticed you'd specified WSR primers. Did you mean rifle primers? I've never tried them in the .32 H&R and would be interested in any difference you've noticed vs. WSP. Regards, Rodfac

No, my bad, I did not mean WSR. It should have been WSP. Thanks for catching that. Since pressures that I use are not that high I've not tried any SR primers in the .32 H&R. There's no real need that I can see.
