A week or so ago, I was surfing the Net; and found this. At first, I thought it too good to be true. No, it's not a perfect New York 50-70 Rolling Block; but it's in pretty good condition considering it's age; and price paid. I just picked the rifle up yesterday at our local post office; spending the evening cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing. After putting her all back together this morning, I headed to my short range. The range is 60 yards; or so. My first six shots are shown in one photo. I got anxious; thinking the fair string would get worse with more shots. Ten shoots continued the fair (bad eyes) string. Here's some photos.

Good find, I would like to find one. A friend of mine tells me he has a .50-90 Remington. Still have to see it.

My load, using 15gns Trail Boss, pushing a 405gn cast bullet is relatively mild. Averaging a little over 1000fps, it's easy on both shooter, and rifles. And, is accurate.I'm wanting to try some heavier bullets, once I locate the moulds.
I think my finish is partially induced, not original on the New Yorker; especially on the barrel. Could be wrong; never claimed to be an expert at anything! :coffee:
Thanks for your interest!:cbpour:

Congrats on the find! I'd love to have one as well. I've got a trapdoor in 50/70, have yet to shoot it...
Happy Shootin'! -Tom

Rollers are really fun to shoot! I've got one in .44-77Sharps, and another that I'm presently restoring in .40-65 Win. I like most singleshot rifles, but Rollers are historically one of the oldest, and just have that history to them.
