Does anyone just use a gas check instead of a half jacket for swaging .30 caliber boolits? Im just starting to swage my .30 calibers and wondering if it will work and if so how good are the results vs half jackets. I have a Swage-O-matic press using a FN and RN die set I just bought from CH. Thanks, Mike

Just try it,and see.
I suggest that you keep the weight down to 90 or 100 grains, for starters.
Keep the loads mild,or you will get severe leading in the barrel.

Thanks Frank and I was thinking of making some 100gr plinkers for my 30-30. Im gonna try it out and will let you all know if they shoot good or not.

May want to keep them slow, and use a light charge of fast rifle/slow pistol powder. Of course, do consult the manuals prior to using pistol/shotgun powders.
I read somewhere that Unique works for the 30-30, but the velocity is pretty slow, and with a heavy bullet..

Let us know how it works...
