Anyone ever loaded buck and ball? I'd like to try it but am not sure how to load it. Can I just use data for the same weight of shot?
Thanks guys

I have loaded buck and ball in a reproduction .69 cal. musket. I don't think you could duplicate it in any type of modern shell as it woul weich about 2oz+ in a 12 ga.. I have tried it too in a Pedersoli 12 ga. double. It is a simple process, powder, overpowder card, felt wad, 6 - 9 OO buck or comparable weight shot, 690" ball and card wad to top it off. Used primarily by early hunters to harvest game. When you shoot a single shot musket changing loads while hunting was NOT an option.

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll try 3-6 pellets of OO and a .69 ball, should be light enough.

Do you put the ball over or under the buck? I'm thinking over, not sure why

pack six 00 in teh bottom and seat the ball on top. i usually use an overshot wad as well.
