I just bought a Nagant Revolver, and was wondering if anybody had any reloading tips, or bullet mould suggestions.
Thanks

I've had good luck with the Lyman 313445. It is not commonly seen and tough to find. It is an odd looking semi-wad cutter design that drops around 100gr. I loaded it up over some Win 231 and used formed 32-20 brass. I have not found my sweet spot with it yet, but it does show some promise so far.

I have also tried the Lyman 311252 with so-so results. It is a 75gr round nose that works well with the 32ACP. I will add that I only tried that design out with one load and have not yet played enough with it to write it off.

I did get the .32 Keith group buy mold that Catshooter honcho'd but I have been too busy to play with it in the Nagant. I bought it specifically for the Nagant so I suppose I should get off my duff and work up some loads to see if it shines.

There was talk of a Nagant mold group buy but, that has not really come to fruition. Hopefully, that buy does not die out and we can look forward to another design to play with. Look back through the group buy section for the Nagant Group Buy thread and maybe someone can take the ball and run. Either way, the Nagant has been fun to play with, just don't expect it to be a high-performance hand cannon. My velocities have been in the 6-800 fps range so far.

I have 2 and haven't had much luck with loads in either one. the revolvers seem to very allot for one to the other so maybe you got lucky and got a good one.

I have a long-cold mould much like Lyman #313445, sort of a button-end wadcutter version of that design called #313492. I last heated it at least 15 years ago, then for the 32 S&W Long and Magnum. Once the RCBS 98 SWC landed, the Lyman has gathered dust.

I've thought the #313492 might be just the ticket for the Nagant. Gotta try that once we actually move someplace and stay there for a while.

I use Lee dies with 32-20 brass. The Hornady HBWC seated as long as possible over 2.5 Red Dot is very accurate in mine.

Someplace long ago I saw a procedure for converting 32-20 for the Nagant.

I can't imagine target accuracy with the 20 pound trigger pull, but everyone should have at least one just because they are so UGLY!

My Nagant will do respectably well on dinger plates at 35 yards using single action and the Lee 100 grain RN @ .311" over 3.0 grains of WW-231 and assembled into the now-collectible Starline 7.62 x 38R cases. I consider it a triumph of persistence over good sense that I was able to develop ammo for this little contraption that actually connects on target most of the time.

The Lee TL314/85/wc sized .312-.313 does well as does the lee 100 gr rn, in swaged the Hornady HBWC works too. I am still using starline brass and 32/20 r-p brass. There is an endless list of powders that will work, I've loaded Win super field, Herco, AA#2, Unique, SR 4756, SR 7625, and W 231. 231 and AA#2 work best for me, load enough to get 750-800 fps. Don't bother shooting it DA!

Lee 100 gr RN, and Red Dot, Star-line 32/20 brass, ................still in works, but showing some promise. Lee SWC tumble lube didn't work as well in my gun.

Want to try some HBWC, like Hornady or Berry Plated one of these days..

Don't know if worth the effort, but fun to tinker with.
