Lubing a barrel?

Was talking to an old timer at the range and he said most lube their barrel prior to shooting lead bullets. Ever heard of that?

Do it every time. Rub your bullet lube into a patch and run it down the barrel before the first shot. Got that from a better shooter than me and I ain't gonna argue with him.

If you do that make certain to clean the lube out of the chamber.

I've got a tube of Bore Butter that I do that with. Run a patch down the barrel and clean the chamber before the first shot. I use SPG on the GG boolits but the Bore Butter takes to a patch a bit better.
