Enfield SMLE #1MKIII with single shot cut off.
I love mine.
.303 British, bore .304, groove .312.
Mine loves paper patching.

Counterbore the muzzle, it may be a shooter yet.

Value? Got me, depends on exactly what it is, but since it's been cut down .....$50-100.00, maybe less since the barrel is rusted closed.

You can get good new barrels from Numerich Arms. Being a rimmed cartridge, it is simple to headspace.

And they can be danged accurate! Shoot that hummer! Counterboring isn't a problem, nor is replacing the barrel w/one from Numrich. Easy to load for, too.

How is rest the bore? It could be that someone shot corrosive ammo and didn't clean it. I saw a 91/30 recently that was the same way. They will sometimes shoot okay but foul more depending on the pitting.

You have a Lee Enfield No.1 Mk1, the early edition with the charger attached to the bolt head. Actually these are quite collectable. There should be markings on the right side of the butt-socket. Check out other military surplus rifle sites to get more information. Replacement fore end wood is available.

Yeap. Spot on. My .38-303 is built on one of these actions and is my .303 Pygmy.

That big arrow, the SMLEs that I used in cadets were marked like that, as well as anything else the Aussie Army owned. Would that be an ex aussie?
