Buy far my most beloved round is a NEI .458-440-GC #346 over 37gr of IMR 4198. I did the math and estamated it at 1600fps. My Marlin 1895GS eats them up. Using ww it weights in at 464gr before lube and gas check. The maplat is .35". It hits hard on both ends but I think that the front end is not a good place to be:Fire: The pic is not the exit wound it was a small buck.[smilie=1:http://http://thumb3.webshots.net/t/66/566/2/60/9/2976260090103526723jailSX_th.jpg (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2976260090103526723jailSX)

It definitely got the job done. I like 4198 in my Marlin 45/70 also. I shoot the Lee 405 gr. boolit and the Lee 340 gr. boolit.

Needless to say, I don't think you had to work about following a blood trail :<O

I watched him run off a hole 35yds and fell over. He was the first deer I shot with a home made cast bullet. Jut to put this out do you guys think that this bullit would shoot well in a Sharps rifle with a 34" barrel using bp? Or would I need a larger bullet 500+ gr.

I have a Sharps and just about anything shoots well in it it has a 34" barrel so why not.
Doesn"t hurt near as much in the Sharps as it does in a light 1895.
