A new to me barrel (still in the white) is 1" across the flats with a 32" length.

It has 3/8" dovetails cut at 1.25" from muzzle for front sight base and at 19.25" from muzzle for rear sights.

It has a tapped breech for a plug that is 5/8". No nipple barrel hole has been drilled yet.

The bore slugged at .342 smallest and .345 largest between the lands diameter and .352 smallest and .355 largest diameter between grooves.

I don't know how to really measure twist but .35 bronze brush with 2 wraps of flannel on a marked rod gives me an idea of .7 turns in the 32" barrel. I am thinking of shooting 00 buck through it once I get it mounted on my H&A underhammer rifle.

Any advice? Thanks, Lucky

No advice....but mounting it on an H&A underhammer is what I would do with it. Sounds like the perfect use.:drinks:

Only advice I have would be to go find a mould...but I am cheap, and like making my own shtuff.

Not sure if 00 buck will work. If I remember right 00 is more like 32 cal size. What you may need is 36 cal balls which should come out to .35 and you will probably have to use a really thin patch. Someone here recently talked about using a linen patch I believe that was real thin and held up well.

OOO buck is .350, get a box from Hornady for around $23/5 pounds. Works out to 540 balls, give or take a bit. My .36 H&A holds it's own at any shoot I've been to.

That reminds me that I have a Lyman double cavity .350 ball mold. Think I'll make up some 000 hard buckshot for reloading 12 ga.

The breech plug is likely a NF thread 5/8 X18. Shoul be ok on a underhammer but will be kind of heavy. OO buck is about 33 and could work. ???
