I finally got out all of the whatever kind of oil made it's way inside the pores of aluminum by boiling the blocks in water +dish soap. Finally, on the third cast, all the stuff was gone, no more wrinkled bullets and casting a bunch of bullets. My Lyman 311041 measures .311" on front band where this group buy one goes .305". It's .302 on the nose, .312 on the rest of the bands, .280-.284 on gascheck shank-they all fit good. Bullet weighs in around 177 gr dry with no gas check. Will check all the cavities for weight but they all measure the same. Just wondered if that 1st band was supposed to be just .305" for some particular reason? Just have to see how it fits & shoots in the 30-30's. Bet you it'll be great in Marlin's. Gonna find out in a few weeks. Using straight wheel-weights.
