Hey all, first post! I've been into shooting cast for a while, and was wondering if someone could help me out here. I have a Remington 1903 in good condition. I have some 165 gr. FN casters, plus some 155 gr. as well. Anyone familiar with these? if so, what should I use for powder.
thanks

Johnnie,
Welcome....
If you do a search on 03, 03A3, or 30-06, you will have several days worth of reading ahead of you. There are a number of loads that work well with cast boolits in the '03. Here's a "Classics & Stickies" link (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=17574) that will get you started in the right direction.

Good powders for cast in the 30-'06 catridge (not limited to the Springfield) or any other similar sized full size military cartridge run from Red Dot to 4831. If you're talking cast for target work, trigger control practice, or just good old fashioned plinking then a median weight boolit is fine. These would be 150 to 180 gr slugs, and powders to fit would be 10-12 gr Unique, 14-18grs 2400, 18-20 SR4759 or 4227, or 21-26grs of 4198.

Buckshot calls it right again; "and powders to fit would be 10-12 gr Unique, 14-18grs 2400, 18-20 SR4759 or 4227, or 21-26grs of 4198."
