Hey fellers,
Just got a hold of this lil gem a few days ago. I been in love with the M720s since they came out, but never was able to get my hands on one. Seems they have a loyal following & I can see why. This gun fits me better than any other revolver I own (quite a few). It points perfectly & balances very well. The white outline, red ramp sights are the same as my S&W M19s, so I'm familiar with the setup.
As far as fodder, I have the new 200gr Win Silvertip (pictured) & my personal load of a 429421 (250gr) loaded to about 864fps. Should be potent medicine for any 2 legged critters.. Let me know what you guys think..

You'll really like it. Good shooters and handle very nicely.

Those are very nice. I don't know why Rossi and Taurus have dropped the .44 Special; it seems like there is demand for them. Rossi's quality control was a little iffy at one time, but I have one of the old .22 511's (copy of the S&W Model 63) and it is amazing how accurate it is. A little rough around the edges, but that is reflected in the price, so........

I had a .44 Special Bulldog back in the '80's and came to really like the cartridge.

That particular revolver was another matter.

Boy that gun looks familiar. Oh, I know why. I have one just like it. I picked it up at a gun show a couple years ago. Wasn't even looking for something like it but I couldn't pass it up especially for the price and I saw nothing else I wanted. I looked brane new and if it wasn't it was shot very little. Only $200. I liked it so much next time when I went and was looking for a carry piece in 38 I picked up a Rossi in 357. They both shoot exceptionally well for having stubby barrels and a plesure to shoot!

I am greatly enamored with the 44 Special. I haven't fired one of the revolvers mentioned in this thread, but the design has always prompted me to think "The Chief's Special From Hell". There is a tendency in this day of Linebaugh and Casull in series production to forget about some very capable calibers like the 44 Special and 45 Colt in 1873 trim. Not everyone wants a Magnum, and not everything requires one, either.

Al;
You and me both. The .44 Special ranks right up there with a .45 ACP/Auto Rim with me.

I have several .44 Specials (Model 24 (6½"), a 624 (4") and 624 (6½") as well as a Cimarron Colt Clone.

Just last night, my dealer friend told me my recently ordered Lipsey's Ruger .44 Special Single Action (5½") is on it's way. I can't wait to run it through the paces.

I shoot mostly the Skeeter load but also have some Group Buy full wadcutters loaded up.

The "good old days" are NOW!

Soon to come...I need to find out what load she likes best, so that calls for range time!

So far, as a carry load I have a 429421 (250gr) loaded with 7gr AA5. We'll see...

Well said Uncle Dale, these are the good old days. A revolter in 44 Spec or 45AR is about the nicest friend a guy can have.
