Can anyone give me a name for this die? It is 44 caliber, swc. There are no markings on any part. 1-1/4"-18 tpi die body. The body and nose punch are very well made, very proffesional so I am not thinking homemade.
The threaded rod serves as a knockout rod and base former. Bullet weight is only determined by how far the die body is scrwed into the press.

This die only fits Herter's presses though it was not made by Herter's. It will also fit Lachmiller and RCBS 2A presses with a Herter's shellholder adapter. The nose punch is free floating and secured to the ram by one setscrew. It slips over the end of the large, Herter's ram.

I believe that they were custom made by someone. The punch was made from a bolt. I have come across a few custom made dies for the Herter's press.

Thanks Yarro,
The punch looks like it was made from a bolt but closer inspection makes me think it was turned from drill rod.
For certain who ever made the die certianly knew how to make a lathe sing. I admire a man like that.
