Finally got around to casting some of the Ranch Dog 432-350GC bullets from my new test mold !

I cast them from pure wheelweights and water quenched them on sunday .

Today I sized them at .431" , lubed with Thompson's Blue Angel and added Hornady checks .

Hopefully I'll be able to get some of these loaded with H322 , RL7 and Varget before the weekend . And then take a trip to the range on saturday or sunday !

Good looking Boolit, let us know how they shoot...maybe he can get Lee to make some to sell, I hope, I've been waiting, but he is having problems with Lee as you know ..

I assume these are intended for the 444 Marlin? The 44 mag could work with it as a short range thumper, but not much powder space left.

Finally got to the range yesterday afternoon to try this bullet !

Had 27 loaded rounds using 3 powders with 3 different charges for each powder .

Lets begin with saying the rifle I was using yesterday with this bullet didn't like RL7 at all . For all 3 charges at 50 yards the best 3 shot group I was getting was maybe 3-4" .

Also the loads with Varget of 49 , 50 and 51 grains must have been a little over packed as they pushed the bullets back out just far enough so I couldn't chamber them !

Now for the good news !

I loaded H322 in 43 , 44 and 45 grains with the Ranch Dog 432-350GC and CCI200 primers .

With 43 grains at 50 yards looking thru a Weaver K6 I got a 3 shot group that measured .704" . With 44 grains I shot at an aimimng point that was not easily seen and got a group that measured 1.145" , I think with a better aiming point this one would improve . And finally I shot the 45 grain load at a new target and got .671" group .

After a few tests at 100 yards with the H322 loads I just might need any more testing [smilie=1:

43, 44 and 45 grains of H322 doesn't sound very fast. Did you chronograph the loads?

I was under the impression these molds were designed for tumble lubing. Are they now being cut with deeper lube grooves?

MJ

P.S. When will the molds be available? I might like to have one to create some paper patched bullets for my 444. What diameter bullets does your mold drop? There might be a problem reducing the diameter from over .432" down to .427".

I got my load data from Marshall Stantons work with his BTB 355 . Believe me when I say they pack a punch !

I do not tumble lube normally , these bullets were run thru a .431" die in my Lyman 4500 .

As to when they'll be available I would think at the earliest 9 months from now as the final decision or changes have not been decided yet .

I measured 74 bullets from my 2 cavity mold and got anywhere from .430-.4327".

I agree the RD 350 packs a mean punch with a load of H322!

Lee's website surplus page shows 127 , Dc Mold, 430-265 RF. Either RanchDog sent a bunch back for casting out of spec, or thats a crap load of set up pieces for sale.

LongPoint
He sent them back. He said they should be called TLC427-265-RF's.

I need to take more time with this 432-350GC . But to be honest I don't have the time right now !

I also want to go ahead and get a copy of "Olle's" (405WCF) 433-400GC that he had Mountain Mold's make for him !
That 400 grainer will only be used in the ballard fast twist barrels . But I have thoughts of making a 433-375GC of the same design as the 400 grainer . This 375 grainer should be about max for the slower twist Micro barrels .
