I just aquired a B-square "no gunsmith" mount for my M96 Swede. The mounting instructions are less than useful. My mount came with a roll pin protruding downward that seems to get in the way of the actual "mountability" (nice word Huh? I just made it up). I've seen pictures of the mounts on rifles and don't seem to see this roll pin. Does anyone know the function of this device, or if it is even necessary? If anyone has good pictures of the mount in place, I would be grateful.

Thanks Augois

Augois,

Where is the pin located? It has been quite a while since I have seen one of these mounts, but I think the roll pin serves as a recoil shoulder bearing against the rear sight base.

It appears to be on the muzzle end of the base.......Maybe if I stare at it long enough, and scratch my head hard enough the light bulb will come on.

The pin is a "stop pin" or recoil shoulder. It arrests forward movement of the scope under recoil.

I have one of these on one of my Sweds, and it works ok, but it sure is an ugly looking set up!

you need to lok at the one that Dutchman built. And beg him to make some more, and i want one like his just so you guys know.

Also on the b-square, be creful when you tighten the screws intothe plate beneath the sightblade, they will strip out.

I am about to the point of modifying mine to be similar to Dutchman's. chop down, pin the front, and use a tophat to make it secure. Look at his site and you will see what he did.
