Howdy all,

I inherited a Triple Beam Ohaus Scale Model 710 I believe, Can I get it converted to Grains, or does someone have a conversion table to convert?

Thanks,

Sam :D

You do know that USA signed the "metric convention" some 130years ago......

1 grain = 0,0647 gram
1 gram = 15.432 grains

Wouldn't doubt it, But they didn't tell me. But then Politicians make me feel like a mushroom.

Convert.com.....lets you convert anything to anything else. Might not be very handy running back and forth from the scale to the computer, but it'll give you the info you need.

The lyman cast handbook has all the conversion tables. I like it because its always right there on the bench.FB

I think the CONVERT (http://joshmadison.com/article/convert-for-windows) program that we use is a different one than they are talking about,,,, but your right it's the cats meow for converting.... without having to be online,,,, and it has a small footprint to boot and free,,,it don't get mutch better than that:drinks:

I called Ohaus about having my scale converted from grams to grains. They said NO. Helpful, eh?

My concern would be accuracy,as 1/10grain would be 1/154 gram.I think that would be hard to"read".But then I'm not famillair with that scale.

I have an AccuLab scale in .000 grams. I did a conversion chart in excel that runs up to 100gr by 10ths. If you need over that you just move the . . I printed it and keep it by the scale.

+1 for what Ian said - and one could also put 15.432 into the memory on a small calculator and with a couple of keystrokes get the conversion.

Because the notches the weights fit into also have to be filled in and relocated to where they would be for grains. I am thinking of doing that very thing, with a Dial O Gram to make it into a Dial O Grain. I have a Dial O Grain and also a 2600 Dial O Gram and an old Cent O Gram 311 (Triple Beam). I would have zero emotional problem with converting the Dial O Gram to grains. My interest is piqued. Will report later

Looks like there will soon be some good deals for "Slightly used", "Vintage", scales, on ebay.:kidding:

Two possible solutions come to mind.

If you are not weighing anything of significant weight ie a powder charge. I would just buy a digital scale on Ebay. I have one that was 5 bucks with shipping. The one I have measures grams, grains, carats and ounces.

If you have a smart phone there are free apps that will do the conversion at your bench without having to run back and forth between the computer and the bench.
