Wife and I went and shot some cast today in the 8x57, 6.5 Carcano and 30*40 Krag. The Krag and the Carcano were first at 50 yds, both were open sights, the Krag outshoots the Carcano, so far. The 8x57 was great at 100 with the 8mm Max bullet. This rifle and load has always been good for 10 shot groups of about 2 inches, no fouler- no cool down, it just likes this bullet and load at approx 1900fps. My bison slayer load from 06.

250 gr oldfeller -14b- hornady check-.325
35.0 WC846+dac
fc 210 primer
2.865"oal- that puts gas check down inside the case below the neck
3x9 tasco- shot on 9x
best 5 shot group .785" with 4 into .350"

I can't take a real close up with my vivitar digicam ***

Scot I am going to load development next week when we get home. Right now squatting at the nephews in sunny Ocala Fl. Wife and sister inlaw is running me ragged. Cant wait to some quiet load and range time before my knee surgery. Best Steve:lovebooli
