I just ham fisted my 30/30 sizer and bent the decapping pin. RCBS shows replacement parts, but no list of what fits what. Stupid question - are these pins generic, there are several options on the web site and I'm not sure what to order

If it's just the decapping pin itself, yes they are genaric. I had the same problem when I had a stuck piece of brass in a die and messed it up getting the brass out but I need the whole internal parts. I went to I think Midsouth on line. They sell the parts and it was easier to figure out what aprts I needed.

RCBS sells them in a five pack, buy one pack of large and small decap pin and your set for a while.

Just give RCBS a call and tell them you want large decapping pins or go to any gun shop they may have them in stock.

If you have the right size finish nails around, you can also clip one off to the right length, round the nose, and get by if you aren't too heavy handed.

Once when I was desperate, I made one out of a cheap jewlers screwdriver. It served it's purpose until I got a replacement and I still have it!

The roller bearings from some U-joints will work also.

well now hold your horses Gents RCBS does indeed make two styles one style has a head up in the expander ball and the other does not. I own both styles but the easiest fix is to take down the bent one and see what ya got it's easy to do then swap it out with another from another Die set, if you own more than one, untill you can get more from RCBS. Thanks free is my favorite price, RCBS has sent me a lot of free stuff over the years, very good customer support. I checked both Midway and Midsouth today and all I could find was 50 packs at Midway.

Yupper, Dennis is right. Those "Tee" headed ones are rare these days, yet they seem to be the only ones I break.

Or. One could use a mike to measure the diameter of the bent pin, go down to Ace Hdw and buy a length of musiic wire that size, use the Dremel to cut to size, chuck in a drill and spin against the grinder to round the end nicely, and press on.

Get a mechanic to give you worn out universal joints. They're full of decapping pins.

The "t" headed pins are not all the same. I have different dies that have different "t" headed pins. I called rcbs told them what i have. they admitted those are quite old. I told them i wanted 10-12 of each and would pay. the girl on the phone took my info and mailed out 10 of each (no charge). one was part # 7190000 and the other 90164 (5 pak x 2). as i recall one was for 70's era 223 FL sizer and the other 70/80's universal decapping die.

When I called RCBS last month the lady that answered the phone, (Alice, IIRC) told me they only have the large size headed pins now.

As Wayne Smith says, Call RCBS, Their Number is 1-800-533-5000. I thought I would also give you Lyman's Number, 1-800-225-9626, press 3 for Customer Serivce. (I have these numbers on my bench):coffee:

I call RCBS when I buy an old set of dies that have the large round tightening nuts, as they won't fit my turret press. They send new nuts to me, usuually withn extra brass Allen screws. When ever I need inturnal parts for dies or like O'ring for my Lube-Sizer, they seem to be proud to send them on their postage and no charge for the items. Lyman has treated me the same way.

Great Companies! :castmine:
