I recently got the Lee C309-200-R for my 30-06 Rem. 700. The boolits drop out at .309 - .310 on the bands and .298 on the nose. I want to try some paper patching with these. Was planing on sizing to .308 (need to get the sizer yet) and then patching, then sizing to .309.

Should I patch them so that the front edge of the patch is over the ogive?

My bore is .308 x .300. Without patching the .298 nose I think accuracy will suffer due to the unsuported nose. If I do patch the nose, will the patch be torn sufficiently to come off like its supposed to when it exits the muzzle?

Best bet is to size to .301/.3015 before patching. Patch to throat diameter +, lube, size and shoot. You can work up to full power loads if you use the right alloy. Patch to the start of the ogive an let the nose engrave on the rifling.
