I can't find much on .223 cal and less on semi-auto. I fear there may be a time when jacketed .22 bullets won't be found. Has anyone tried to run an AR on patched pills. It seems them consensus is checked cast boolits are worthless in an AR.
To keep my black rifles from becoming clubs, I may try to find some pills without lube or checks to try patching them.

I think, if it is possible, useing a cigarette roller might make wrapping something that small possible.
It looks like you might be in a clear field to experiment.
There has been .223 bolt gun wrappings. I have heard they worked well.

.224 diameter is way to small for my old fingers. I wonder if paper might plug the gas port in the barrel? Might be worth trying though.

Sounds like a diversion until I get a barrel for the savage. I bought a 10-22 with the funds for it.

Now to find some pills that aren't checked and lubed:confused:

I have wanted to try the pp in my AR. Like pdawg was saying I am worried that the paper will plug the gas port. Anyone ever try it and know what it will do.

I Googled AR-15 cast bullet and found some posts. One fella even did some work with patched bullets. They had no problem with leading of the gas port.
I have a DPMS LR-308 AR-10 that I think I'll start with since I'm intrested in patching for the 308 Savage I'm building.

This is something I plan on doing very soon.
I'm very interested in your results. I've just ordered the Bator mold.
I have recently gotten back into shooting and casting, I have paperpatched in the past for .44 and .445 supermag with very good results and have been researching .22 casting and full power loads for my new AR. Had completely forgotten paper patching.
