Anyone have any experience shooting cast in a .300 Savage? 40+ years of casting experience and this one has me scratching my head.
I picked up a dandy Model 20 Savage in .300 Savage (vintage 1923) and naturally I wish to experiment with cast bullets. The bases of all of the designs I own stick way below the neck into the powder chamber. Are the (mild) concerns I have regarding function/safety/accuracy valid? Anyone aware of a design- current or obsolete- with a relatively short driving band area coupled with a relatively long bore-riding nose specifically designed with the .300 Savage in mind?
Thanks,
Gary
