Hi Guys,

A pal of mine sold me a new jug of H-110. It is mainly a magnum pistol powder for the 357 or 44 mag. That is the main reason I bought it.

Has anyone used it in a 7.62 x54r M/N rifle, 308, 30-30, 8 mm Mauser?
Thanks for any load data or places to look.

Best to all,
broom

Not a wise idea in a large capacity rifle case. H110/WW296 works best when it fills the case, has a heavy boolit, and good neck tension and crimp. Reduced loads are a big no-no.

There is load data for those uses, but it works in a very narrow charge weight range and is not for the uninitated. Keep it for the magnum pistols and use another powder for the rifles, it will be a lot safer for you that way.

Concure with BaBore and 45 2.1. Use H110 for what it is intended.

I concur with the others. We do a lot of "outside the normal reloading box" stuff with cast boolits, but H110 is NOT one of the powders to do such things with.

Well if I do it with bullseye I can't see that H110 would pose a problem. But I've not done it so I can't recommend a charge.

And let's hope you don't. Your dealing with to very different animals here. Akin to filling your diesel pickup with premium gasoline.

Eh? 5 or 6 grains of Bullseye makes a fine 'cat sneeze' plinker load with a 150 grain bullet. And I'm rather sure that Bullseye is faster than H110. So how would it be like filling a diesel with premium gas?

H-110 is known to cause a secondary EXPLOSION at reduced charges... There is a high probability you will end up with a mosin-nagant bolt in your forehead :(

I only ever use that powder for M1 Carbine, and Full power magnum loads.

Hodgson website has specific warning on H110 & W296 against using any loads other than what they list.
A secondary explosion is a definite possibility when using other loads than listed.

Hi Guys,

I called Hodgdon today they sent me a E- mail stating it was NOT a thing to do.
I will use it as it was meant to be used.

SAFETY FIRST!
