Man I tell ya, everyone is making everyonelses guns. Smith & Wesson is making a tactical AR15 now. Kinda like that song by the Kinks called Lola...remember that? One verse goes: ..boys will be girls and girls will be boys, it's a crazy mixed up world...Lola...la la Lola. Same with guns now.

The term bandwagon comes to mind. Smith had to jump on. I wonder if they have anyone that can have new/original ideas in their r&d room. Whats next? S&W thompson sub-gun? How about S&W browning high power? S&W SAA?

Smith has already made a subgun in 9mm back during the Nam days. I believe it closely resembles a Swedish K.

This new AR15 model is called the M & P model. If you remember that had always been relegated to a revolver before.

Well, considering the implosion of Winchester......ANY gunmaker's product line expansion is a good thing, methinks.

The examples on the S&W website look like decent little M-4-ish variants, and the 1:9" twists are a nice touch for the heavier service bullets being used now, much better than the "over the top" 1:7" in the M-16A2's. This twist will do the best work over the 55-70 grain spitzer spectrum, which is what most people use most often in 223 self-loaders.

Another little factoid derived from the Walther side of the S&W house is the PPK/S in 32 ACP again. My opinion--the 32 ACP is a MUCH better match for the PP-series platform than the 380 ACP. So was 22 LR, but that isn't a likely re-occurrence--not with that affordable P-22 on the market.

I would go on at length about the new SIG-Sauer Mosquito in 22 LR, but I'm already waist-deep into off-topic, and further utterance will submerge me.

Yup Deputy, payback for making me buy that Benelli 30 Luger. I know Marie can read Spanish so she'll see this and it will be payback time! :violin:

For those of you that don't know what this is about there's a new Sig in town, the P229 Equinox. A compact 40 S&W with 3.9 inch barrel and weighs 32 ounces and one of the first combact type pistols to have tru-glo sights.

Joe--

Thanks loads, payaso! Marie is intrigued {she has a P-228}, but is leaning more toward the Glock--which is even more exasperating.
