I was shooting my .30-30 24F today testing loads with the Lee 113gr Soupcan and the RCBS 180gr FN. The bore is a very consistent .308" G-G and is 24" long. The boolits were sized at .309". The first set of groups were all around an inch at 50 yards. :-D Then things went downhill. :-( I checked the barrel and found leading building up in the last 4-5" of the barrel. I saw a post some time ago that suggested that this was due to the lube "running out".
Can anyone shed more light on this situation and how to deal with it? I can't make the lube grooves any bigger so I hope a different lube might help. The boolits were lubed with homemade SAECO green (recipe from the "lubes"thread).
Thanks for any help!
