I finally got out to shoot this load through my 4" S&W M10 this afternoon. With the exception of some shots I pulled[smilie=1: I found that this load shoots to point of aim. I have a question for the veterans here though. I have no chrongraph so can someone tell me what this load will generally chrono at through a 4" tube thanks.

No chrono but 860 FPS according to the Lyman cast bullet handbook. They also show this as a maximum load.

Chronoed this load through a 6" GP and got 830 fps. Figure about 750-775 through a 4" barrel.

IIRC 5.2 of old UNIQUE was Elmer Keiths suggestion with the 168 gr slug in a .38 Spcl case. Then again he enjoyed his pressures on the ragged edge! I loaded a ton of five grain loads over the years. Always accurate.

5grs. of old Unique under a Lyman 358477 swc has been my load for years. I also like 3grs. of Red Dot under a 148gr. wadcutter.

I went out and tried my hand again with the 168gr 358429 5 gr Unique combo and some Tennessee Valley Bullets 158gr SWC over 4.6gr of Unique. All of the loads were clean burning leaving no unburned powder or leading. I was tring to see how well the 358429 would group for me today since it showed great promise yesterday. The Tennessee Valley Bullets combo has always been a nice accurate standard load in my gun since I've been using TVB bullets. The only thing I learned today is that I need more range time as my shooting was terrible.
Yesterday the 358429 over 5gr of Unique gave me the smallest group of all the loads I tried. However today you wouldn't even know it was the same load by looking at the target I shot.
