Replacement parts for 98 Mausers litter the earth. You should be able to find all sorts of different stocks for that thing. You didn't say if you want an old military style stock or a sporter.

Midway has several for the 98 Mauser. Check their catalog on page 571-573. Or their website of course.

If this were the 70's or early 80's that would be EASY FAJEN - Nothing but the best from utility grade on up to one of a kind exhibition class pieces of wood. Now I would suggest practicality and take a look at MIDWAY or BROWNELLS or HOUGUE, for a HOUGE OVERMOLDED.

Also check out a timney trigger and SUPERIOR SHOOTING SYSTEMS for a SPEDILOCK KIT you wouldn't beleive what you could end up with.

I have a bunch of 98 Scout Rifles made up with Long eye releief Scopes, trench mags, synthetic stocks timney triggers and Speedilock kuts. They are fine shooting rifles and easy to train newbies with. The 200 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip is a great 350 YARD performer.

Got a good stash at my retreat a very practical rifle for a variety of purposes. 8mm brass is pretty reasonable but I've got at least 2K per rifle loaded for my stash. The only really good factory loads are the very pricey NORMA and the more reasonable SELLIER & BELLOT.

Bought from Midway....Here's a Hoague Overmolded Stock that I camoflagued. The colors don't show up very good because of the adjustable nut behind the viewfinder. I also notched it for a Timney Trigger safety.....Tell you what, that straight comb and soft recoil pad sure do minimize recoil. I've shot 80+ rounds at one session without a break and couldn't tell I'd even fired the rifle. I'll post a photo of my 98 Mauser with the European stock so you can see the difference...Joe Bob[/B]

Which M98 mauser?

There are hundreds of variations of the M98 Mauser action and hundreds of variations of Mauser M98 type rifles. It's sort of like asking "Where can I find a stock to fit this old army gun I have? It's a very open question.

A picture or four or seven would be helpful as would the name of the manufacturer, and any markings on the reciever and barrel.

Plus need you need to know if it is an intermediate length action. Some of the Fabrique nationale and yugos were shorter in length between the action screws and shorter bolt.

I checked out custom rifle makers and if none around check out gunshops. I got three for nothing.
