Hello All: I've been extruding .219" wire for .224 bullets and it seems to work great. I noticed on the Corbin site they recommend .187" wire. Is there a reason I should be using the .187" wire? I like the .219" wire as it doesn't fall out of the jacket while I push it into the die. Best, Danth

Danth, most 22 caliber core swaging dies are about .190". So to swage the core, the wire must be smaller so it can expand up and extrude excess lead to uniform the core weight.

I assume you are using 22 case jackets, since most commercial jackets would not accept a .219 core. The core would be too big to go into the jacket. Usually you would want some small gap around the core when it goes into the jacket to allow any air trapped under the core to bleed up and out as the core is seated.
