I,ve been kicking around the idea of of picking up a Marlin 1894 Trapper 44mag with ballard rifled barrel. I know Marlin does not offer the fine piece at the moment, but was wondering how hard something like this is to get ahold of?

Marlin did offer it some time ago. 1894P has a ported, 16.25" barrel. I see them offered from time to time. I have the 1894CP. It is a fine weapon.

I have a Marlin, it appears to have started life as a 336 but has been cut to 17". The metal has been buffed so all lettering except the serial has been eliminated. 44mag/special while the front sight has been replaced and a full buckhorn rear. The finish is a flat black, almost like a black parkerizing.

Loaded with Speer 240GDSP, this rifle will put the round into a 3" space at a hundred yards. I suspect someone who is a better shot than I, can do a bunch better. However, on a hog at 50-75 yds, this beauty will drop them in a heart beat.

If you really, really want it, there's slim to no chance you'll find one in anywhere near an affordable price range. At least for me that's how it works.

Check Gun Broker. Auction Arms, etc to see how often they turn up.

You could get a LSI/PUMA/ROSSI 1892 clone, I have an LSI in 45LC with a 16" bbl.
fun little gun, I know they make them in 44mag but not sure able the 16' BBL.

If you want something handy this looks interesting.
