Just a quick report on trip to range yesterday. Only shot at gongs as it had snowed/melted and pretty sloppy downrange. Luckily, nobody had shot the gongs I had painted days before so I got to shoot about a dozen shots at one of them. I bought the mould for the 41mag Smith I had at the time and my 405Win. Ruger #1, but thought I could size it to .410" and try it in the 40-65win.

Took a bit to get the sights adjusted, but I shot the group buy 41 keith boolit over 2Xgr of 5744 with an .030 over powder wad, then grits so when I seated the boolit, I got about 1/8" compression. This load was too hot, so I won't give it, but need to drop back at least 1 grain. Velocity was 1673fps

However, the gun, a Pedersoli sharps clone really liked the load. Put 5 shots in around 2" from what I could see. Will have a better report when it drys out and I can put it on paper. With my eyes, an open sight group 2" or less, is good shooting. Could do half that 10 years ago. Rough getting older, but beats the alternative.

Went to the range again. Don't know about the flyer--probably me. Wind 10mph @ 7:30
