Very nice! Beautiful to carry in the woods. I missed an opportunity to pick one up in metric version of the .30-30. Couldn't produce the cash in time.

Very nice!

Closest I came to that was a very nice Savage 219L in 30-30 that I had years ago.
It was a joy to carry and shoot.

Nice rifle! I'd settle for a Merkel or Blaser, but can't bring myself to sell enough stuff to afford one. I have a Ruger 1S in .300WM set up as sort of an American stalking rifle, but it's not exactly a lightweight or even especially slender.

Add my name to the list; I just bought a Thompson-Center TCR-83 (yes, the one with the DST's) with some extra barrels. 30-06, 12ga 3.5" mag, 7mm Rem Mag, and 30-378(I can't figure that one out either!!). I am hoping my gunsmith can line the last two mag barrels and chamber for 38-55 and...?

Anyone have a source for TCR barrels these days?

Great find! Excellent rifle! Color me GREEN. Send it this way when you get tired of it. Keep us posted on how well your loads work. Neil

Anyone tried the old H&R Topper in .30-30 or .22 Hornet? The NEF Handi is nearly identical and comes in myriad calibers for relatively cheap. American Stalking rifles at a tenth the price of a Sauer and Sohn, Merkel or Blaser.

I've got a Topper in .30-30. It's my cast Boolit gun in .30 cal.

Well, the Topper and the NEF are single shot rifles, but the similarity pretty much ends there. Adequate tools or toys, but not stalking rifles in the classic sense. Try handling a Blaser or equivalent sometime, you'll feel the difference. As I said, even my #1 isn't nearly in the same league as a Continental or English stalking rifle.

The best I can do as a stalking rifle is my Browning 1885 Low Walls in .223Rem and .260 Rem. Here is a picture of my .260 Rem, they both look the same.
