Just got back from the range.
This time, no jacketeds stuck in the bore!!!!
Yay.
At any rate, I had 20 jacketeds to cut loose, and 10 patched to clean the bore.
The patches were dead on. The scope was zeroed for the patches.
A great day, no wind, warm, lots of no-seeums, few folks at the range. I had my .303 Brit.
The jacketeds with the same load, all shot low in the same place, the patcheds hit the 10. Or more precisely, there were bowling pins all over the bank that had been shot to destruction. The jacketeds recquired the next lower dot on the MilSpec scope, the patches used the prime dot. The jacketeds hit square at 100yds, and moved the pins. The patches hit dead on and turned the pins into shreds moveing most off the berm.
The jacketeds had recoil. Quite reasonable, the patches had distinct recoil! No pressure issues at all.
To top off the day, someone had a Garand. He blazed away all day and LEFT the brass. His clips were there, and gobs of pristine Remington brass! It must be nice.
Well, they have a new home awaiting a tumbling bath.
I have one box of .312 jacketeds ready to reload. I wonder if they are worth loading. My patches outdo them hands down. On down range performance, POI accuracy.
