A sad reminder of why Illinois needs a right to carry law. I haven't heard of the full story just that a guy walks into church this morning during services @ 8am, has a few words with the pastor then shoots him.(he is only death.) Sounds personal to me.

Illinois just needs some RIGHTS period. . .

It is one of the few states that I do my very best to boycot in every possible way. Had to fly up to Maine last year for my father-in-law's funeral. Added an extra hour to my trip just to make sure I didn't land and refuel anywhere in Illinois. There's only one place based in Illinois that I'll do business with and he's a sole proprietor.

It's a shame, too. We have a couple of good friends down here who originally hailed from Illinois. Both couples refuse to ever go back--even to visit. They can't stand the politics and what the state has become. Giving Blogo the boot was a bit encouraging, but compared to everything else, it was like a weak fart in a hurricane.

Massachusetts is another state I try very hard to avoid--and another state that when we crank up and fly to Maine/New Hampshire we refuse to land in.

Isn't it ironic that the cesspools are those places with the most draconian, insane and restrictive gun laws? Criminals and politicians (redundant) have free, unrestricted reign.

Makes me feel bad for the few good folks who are still there and--for whatever reason--can't pack up and leave.

I ecco the sentaments of Recluse. It is hard to believe that the state that produced Lincoln had declined to its current state of socialism.

I believe that Lincoln was actually produced by Kentucky

There are lots of folks in this world that are antigonistic toward religion in general and Christianity in particular. Most of them, think they are some kind of victim of God, the church or who know what. I know of two pastors that were killed by nut cases and neither of them had had any personal dealings with the person who killed them.

I was threatened a number of times. Two time I took it serious enough to arm myself until the problem passed. In both of those cases, it was men whose wives were members of the church. The wives decided to leave them, and the men blaimed the church. In neither of the cases, did I have any knowledge of their domestic problems. Both of the men were abusive. One was a drunk and the other was crazy.

Folks don't think of being a pastor as a dangerous occupation, but sometimes it is very dangerous.

I have been eyeing other locals( if I loose my job, I'll probably have to move. not many aviation jobs in the STL area anymore). I was thinking FL,AL,GA,AZ,TX. somewhere warm.8-)

The church I attend is full of retired State Troopers, Deputy Sheriffs, active duty LEO's and retires Security personnel. It wouldn't be a good place to try any shenanigans...

At one Church that used to belong to I was asked to come "dressed." At every service.

I cant blame RECLUSE for boycoting Illinois. We've got one x-gov in prison and hopefully will soon put another there also. It's hard to change things when your state electorals are controlled by the county(COOK) that keeps electing these jerks!
I feel alittle better knowing that I live in and area where everyone has guns and uses them.

It truely is a shame about the church in Maryville. I have family in school 15 minutes from there and it concerns me very much.

It's just a good thing Illinois has such common sense gun laws. Why, if some gun nut in that church had been carrying a gun, he might have injured that deranged criminal. In Illinois, deranged criminals are so honored they get elected.

I hear Texas isn't a bad place at all for aviation. Being a GA pilot, I have a lot of friends in the shiny wings business--both as drivers and wrench-drivers. Off the top of my head, here is what I know:

--Addison (KADS) (north Dallas) has a ton of both GA and corporate jet business. If I'm not mistaken, Gulfstream has a refurbishing facility there. Also lot of flight schools, which means someone has to keep those perils airworthy so that the students can scare themselves silly (or stoopid whichever the case may be).

--Fort Worth has Lockheed Martin and Bell as well as the Naval/Air Force joint reserve base which has a lot of flight operations.

In addition, Fort Worth Meacham (KFTW) has a slew of facilities for both GA and corporate aviation. Fort Worth Alliance (KAFW) has a huge maintenance depot for American Airlines. I'm not sure where the maintenance depot for Southwest Airlines is--may be based at Love Field (KDAL) their home base.

--I've heard that San Antonio is the front runner for the finishing facility for Boeing's new jumbo jet. Also another maintenance depot down there that does work for foreign air force/military services.

--Not sure what's going on in Houston. Continental Airlines is based there, but again, not sure where their home depot is.

--Little west Texas town of Olney (KOLN) is where Air Tractor cropdusters are built. Friend of mine does all the radio work for them. Lot of ag aviation business in Texas.

Anyhow, apologies for the brief thread hijack, but just wanted to pass along what I knew about the biz. As I said earlier, we can always use more gun-loving patriotic folks down here. We'll send the illegals up north along with the damn yankees.
